Why Online Mixing?

Mixing is a complex and highly focused process that can take anywhere from 3-6 hours of studio time to complete, depending on the size of your session. Which is why booking studio time to have your song mixed can add up to be very costly, especially when working with a top level engineer. That brings us to the biggest issue of all, which is that most artists don’t normally have access to top level engineers, or at least don’t know where to find them.

The solution is simple - online mixing! And we mix for clients worldwide, all at different stages of their music careers.

How Much Of A Difference Will Mixing Actually Make?

When you play a new song for your friends, family or significant other, does it get them jumping out of their seats and saying things like “Wow I can’t believe that’s you! This sounds like it could be on the radio!” Or are you always disappointed by their reactions and lack of excitement? This can be the first sign of whether you have a bad mix or a great mix.

The same goes for other artists or influencers who you may reach out to in hopes that they would be open to collaborating with you.

Have you ever heard inconsistent volume levels throughout a song, so much so that your focus is more directed at something being too loud or too low rather than paying attention to the music?

Or what about a sound so piercing to your ear that you rather change the song than to continue listening? What impression about the artist does that leave you with? Professional? Amateur?

Professional sound will help you stand out from the millions of independent artists online. You’ll be considered as an artist who takes their craft serious every step of the way, giving the listener purpose as to why they should listen to your music in the first place, other than being a friend or family member who is showing support because you asked them to.

F A Q ’ s

How do I start the mix process?

Simply fill out our form on our page www.forevercurrent.com/online-mixing and you will be contacted by a representative to schedule a mix consultation. Or you can schedule a call directly at www.calendly.com/forevercurrentmixing

What format should I send my track in?

WAV or AIFF please. Uncompressed stereo with a bit depth of at least 16bit, ideally 24bit and a sampling frequency of 44.1kHz up to 96kHz. No pre-processing using limiting or normalising – we need as much headroom as possible to work with to make sure that your tracks sound as good as possible when we master it.

Can I choose which engineer will mix my track?

Yes, when scheduling a mix consultation, you can choose which engineer you would like to speak to. You can compare each engineers credentials and work on our website www.forevercurrent.com/online-mixing

How can I pay?

Once you submit your files and provide us with your email, we will send you an invoice to pay securely.

Can I ask for a revision?

Yes, you’ll have two opportunities for revisions.

How can I send you my session?

You can use a file sharing website such as wetransfer.com to upload your pro tools session and/or session stems to our engineer.

When will I receive my mix after I send the files?

Typical turnaround time is 3-5 business days. A more accurate time frame will be communicated by the engineer based upon availability.

Can I have the mix stems/session files when the mix is completed?

Yes, we can export and send the stems of the final mix, be sure to communicate this with the engineer

What deliverables can I expect when the mix is completed?

Upon approval of the final mix, we will send the final mix in wav 24bit form as well as mp3. You will also receive the acapella mix, instrumental mix, and a performance mix

What is a performance mix?

A performance mix is a mix to be used in a live setting. We mute the lead vocal and keep any backing vocals to support a live performance

What is a live zoom mix and how does that work?

If you would like to opt in to be invited for a live mix session we will send you a private zoom like where the engineer shares his screen with you. Along with a private link to stream audio directly from our output interface so that you hear what we hear in the studio. This collaboration will allow you to be involved in the whole process and learn from the engineer.

Can I have a song I recorded at home professionally mixed?

Yes, it’s possible to have your home recording professionally mixed if good recording techniques are applied and the recording is done with some acoustic treatment and decent equipment. You will first need to send your files to our engineer to verify quality. We won’t accept a mix unless we are sure we can deliver.

Can I record my song at your studio? Where are you located?

Absolutely, we have a high-end recording studio located in Boca Raton, FL. We would love to have you record here with us. Contact us to schedule a free tour and book some studio time with us.

Can I have my vocals tuned?

Yes, we use a combination of Auto-tune and Melodyne to time and pitch correct vocals when needed or requested. There is no extra charge for this.

Do you offer bulk mix discounts for bigger projects?

Yes we do. Discounts vary by project size, communicate with your engineer how many songs in total you will need mixed and we will give you a special discounted quote.

How do I export and send my stems for mixing?

Please remove all effects and plugins when exporting vocal stems for mixing. Vocals must be dry mono audio files, with no effects, panning, or plugins.  If you are submitting instrumentation stems we ask that you send all files in stereo and keep the levels and effects as is. Please do not process any drastic compression or equalization that may cause distortion and clipping, make sure to label and name your stems accordingly to avoid any delays.

For the Bit Depth/Rate select 16 or 24. Only select the bit rate your original recording was completed in or lower. Keep in mind, when choosing a higher bitrate than your recording this will corrupt the file. If you are using pro tools please send the session and not the stems.
